Hello-just wondering if when you paint on cereal boxes you have to worry that they aren't acidfree and therefore will degrade over time?I love your work and if I buy one I would love to know that they will be around a long time.Thanks.
Great question/concern. I'm almost positive these paintings will degrade over time. The idea to use cereal boxes hit me after I attended a graduate thesis show about containers and packaging by a student in graphic design. I was intrigued in salvaging some of that the cartons we use as a family of five and using it to create paintings but I sat on the idea for almost a year because their non-archival nature. A few months ago, I could no longer resist the idea of turning something so banal into something fragile and aesthetic. I’ve been delighted with the results so far. I found that I’m more likely to take risks with a cereal box than a stretched and primed canvas. I’ve made more paintings in the last two months than I have in years. I understand your concern and that’s why I can’t charge too much for these pieces.
i think i like the idea of a painting degrading over time. i get so tired of everything being so precious.(with all due respect) architecture degrades and ages and i appreciate the architects who allow their buildings to be touched by the public and degraded by the daily processes of life. i would love to have a painting or sculpture that somehow got used up over time. the idea of art as investment makes me ill. in fact im starting to have anxiety now and have to go.
I'm a part-time artist fascinated by color and shape. I'm drawn to more abstract subject matter. I hope you enjoy what you see here. Feel free to comment, critique, or just say hello. Most images here can be enlarged by clicking on them.

Line, color, texture, and space have fascinated me for more than a decade. Consequently, my subject matter tends to be abstract and geometric. Composition, design, and structure are major concerns. I work deliberately knowing that inevitable problems in execution will revise and transcend the original idea. Ultimately, I want to create iconic, sophisticated, aesthetic, and wonderfully flawed images that look “right” - a never ending search for quality.

BTW, sorry it took me so long to respond to you, I didn't think anyone looked at this blog besides me!
